History

The first version of TextQuest named INTEXT was released in 1988 after the port of the IBM-Mainframe version written in PL/1. In 2024 TextQuest was completly rewritten in C++, there are versions for  MS-Windows and MacOS.

The functions of TextQuest/Refo are available as a (DLL) for Windows and MacOS so that can use the functions in your own software. These functions are the readability formulas and also algorithm that split a text in grammatical sentences and consider heading, enumerations, quotations, and direct speech.

TextQuest 5.0 peer forms a computer aided content analysis that is offten used in the social sciences. It uses categories that consist of search patterns. These are counted within a text unit (e.g. newspaper article, paragraph, book chapter etc). The counters are written to an output file and can be analyzed with statistical software.
